So 3 of TLOTV are on Cloud 9 with Obama in essence sewing things up. (Although Whoopi is still all over the board when it comes to the election, she goes out of her way to stick her neck out for BO.) And of course, it's all about him. And the historic moment. Elisabeth tried to remind everyone there was someone else running, and it was as if John McCain is now an afterthought.
There was a strange moment when, just minutes after announcing that Hillary would officially concede, WG said that they had just heard from the Clinton campaign, and that was not the case. Apparently HRC watches TV! Right, more likely some lowly intern had their excitement for the day when they were able to call in and set things straight.
But other celebrities (or their assistants) are also watching. After TLOTV mentioned Susan Sarandon's comment about leaving the country, the next day they read a reponse from SS that in essence said, "This is a democracy and we all have free speech, and I love my country but if John McCain is elected I will fear for my family's lives because of his foreign policy and his temper. So, love to all, your friend SS."
What?! Wrapping an outrageously unfair statement with pseudo-patriotism and good wishes is an acceptable part of the political conversation? And of course EH had little chance to offer a rebuttal -- often when she does these days, it's brushed off with "Yeah, yeah, we've heard all that before."
And yet Joy has the nerve to say how wonderful it is that they all have different opinions, and isn't this show great -- all the while disrepectfully slamming EH indirectly with statements like "What's wrong with you people?!" Oh yeah, she loves this show -- her opportunity to bully a younger, less aggressive and more polite woman in order to score points for her agenda.
Oh, silly me. JB is just a comedian. She's just entertaining the audience. She's not using a wildly popular show as a forum to unfairly influence the viewers with unsubstantiated information and gross distortions of the truth. The average viewer is too smart -- they know the difference between comedic effect and character bashing.
And that's Sherry Shepherd's real hair.
