... that the Palins are Cubs fans!
I was one of the throngs who attended the McCain-Palin rally in Fairfax VA today. The crowd was more than twice as much as expected, a cop said at least 20,000 and the McCain camp said a few thousand more. There were people literally hanging in the trees to get a better look.
Fred Thompson was a nice surprise, introducing the ticket. The roar when Johnny B. Goode and Sarah America stepped up was overwhelming. It was as if a sleeping giant had awakened from a bad dream, and was delirious to discover that all was right with the world after all.
Yes, people went bonkers for Sarah, but I have to say it wasn't a crazy delirium -- it was an elixir that gave us all back that spring in our step and belief in our hearts.
Who cares what incredibly stupid things the other side said today -- we are so above it... We need do nothing but shoo them off like a fly and turn away.
So here is a video I managed to get as they candidates left -- I was thrilled that I figured out a spot to wait at, and they walked right below me.
The bonus was Todd's response to the question a guy shouted out for me above the crowd.

Actually, it is kind of a crazy delerium. Man, I'd hate to see John McCain out there with someone like Mitt Romney or Fred Thompson. First, the crowds would be measured in the 100's, not the 1000's ... and the snooze factor would be off the charts.
I'm glad he decided to pick a hottie like Sarah instead of a "nottie" like Fred, ha ha !
