Why start a blog?
That’s what I’ve been telling myself for a long time. Who would care what I have to say? But I’ve got to give my husband, my oldest daughter, my neighbor and a few select friends a break. They’re tired of hearing it all, tired of me saying I should do something to change the status quo. This is a first step.
Why did I choose that name for the blog?
My writing skills and my clarity are often lacking -- heck I was a science major and I've been out of the working world raising 7 kids for the past 25 years or so! I feel that right now my life is more than a bit out of focus. I also like to believe that slowly but surely things are taking shape for me. The hope is that this blog will help me -- and maybe help a few others -- find a little lucidity.
What do I hope to accomplish with this blog?
I hope to wake people up – mostly women – to what they are fed every day by the media. Mostly regarding "women’s issues." I want to examine, challenge, thwart, refute, and set the record straight. Whatever I happen to come across in my daily exposure to television, film, and print media will be targeted.
What’s wrong with the status quo?
It ain’t working for women. Though progress has been made, it has come at too great a price. TPTB seem to think that more of the same is what’s needed. They are too stubborn to admit that maybe they made a HUGE mistake and it’s time to correct it so real progress can be made. Time to step aside and let other women –- who have a true vision of what a better world for women looks like -– take charge and start speaking for us all.
What will not be in this blog?
This will not be a flaming forum. I will allow meaningful responses –- for I believe this should be a dialogue. And I hope anyone who chooses to read it will alert me to any major infractions I may have missed as well as any topic du jour so I can comment. And away we go...
